You were born with only one family. You can't change them and should embrace them for who they are. They are who they are and are meant to be in our lives to mold us to who we are. If I am to face a tough crisis down the road, then a harsh parent growing up perhaps was a way to toughen me up and help me face it. I found out today that blood IS thicker than water and when you can strip old matters and get down to the heart of the crisis, everything in the world is right.
Try to remember that the next time you have a fight with your brother or sister. Love each other!
